We're still at Ditto Landing Marina in Huntsville, AL.  We both slept late this morning and then Ralph tackled changing the oil filters and tightening the motor mounts. While he was busy in the engine room, I did my usual spider patrol and daily clean-up on the outside of Say Good-Bye.  The spiders sure are diligent -- they work all night spinning magnificent webs, but in the morning they're washed away...not likin' bugs of any sort hanging about.

Ralph had a business meeting this afternoon so, left to my own devices, I've decided to take you on a tour of Say Good-Bye so you can see the 41' we have been living in.  We began the Loop on May 23, so we have been Loopers 127 days.  However, we began living aboard when Say Good-Bye was launched May 2...so she has really been our home for 147 days-- but who's counting?

  1. Nice post! Thanks for the tour.

Ralph and I got to compare my DF 40 and your DF 41 that day/night we spent side by side at the electronics shop in Cambridge, and found them to be almost the same.

You may remember that it was so hard to get on and off the boats due to those short finger piers that we weren’t able to board each others boat.

The interiors are very similar, yet different. Ours is more plain with less fancy woodwork. I’d be happy to own either one.

You should post a review of Ditto at Active Captain.

  2. I forgot to ask - How far up the river are you going?

I've been marking your progress on Google earth. You can reasonable ask "Does he have too much time on his hands?"

    Ha!

  3. Hi Mike: Nice to hear from you. Of course we remember meeting you in Cambridge. I also remember it was as hot as blazes the evening we chatted outside on our respective boats. And it was, indeed, challenging to get on and off with those short finger piers.

Some of my friends had asked what the interior of the boat looked like, so I decided to take some photos today and post them.

I've never been on a 40' DeFever -- did Ralph meet you on your boat on Henderson's Wharf in Baltimore one time or am I confused with someone else? Do you know Harry and Margaret Beggs? They have a DeFever 41' also, named "Beggar," but the interior is laid out a little differently than ours -- and they have a V-berth. That's the only other one I've been on. Interesting how the interiors can differ, isn't it?

Our destination up the river is Chattanooga. It's a side trip we decided to take since we are a little ahead of schedule. Have you been there? If so, any suggestions besides the aquarium which everyone told us is a "must see?" Best regards to you and Mrs. T.
