This morning we attended the church service at Heritage Christian Center about four blocks from the municipal dock.  The weather was overcast and humid and we took umbrellas but had no rain.  After church we had breakfast at the Bee Hive Restaurant downtown. We went back to the boat for Striper then took a stroll through downtown Ottawa and stopped at Handy Foods for milk on the way back.  We bypassed Tone's Cones, too.  Had we not just had breakfast, we might have been more tempted. Ottawa is a lovely little town town with friendly people and beautiful architecture.
We're tied up along a popular fishing spot and we chatted with the anglers.  They cautioned us about the Asian Carp in the Illinois River.  The carp are large fish that are stimulated by the vibration of boat engines and are known to jump into boats.  They are "bleeders" and when they hit the deck, there is a lot of blood and they are dangerous in that they are difficult to handle and throw back into the water.

Attached is a chart of the river route we'll be following from Chicago to Mobile and some photos from today's walk:

Downtown Ottawa, IL

This block has many antique shops

I like this Department Store

No Tone's Cones for us today

I like the style of this house

Love the rounded porch on this house

Of course this is my favorite, which Ralph says is a roofer's nightmare
