We weighed anchor this morning at 6:45. It was cool and a little overcast as we traveled south on the Cumberland River.  We locked through the Barkley Lock and arrived at Green Turtle Bay Resort in Grand Rivers, Kentucky shortly before noon.  The town of Grand Rivers is a strip of land located between the Kentucky River and the Barkley River.  The past couple days on the rivers, I've done a good bit of writing and I'm glad to be able to do that.

Green Turtle Bay is said to be the most popular marina on the entire Great Loop.  There are many amenities at the marina, including reasonable rates for dock rent, electricity, internet and cable tv and they provide a courtesy car.  We tied up and made reservations for "The Super 60's Show" at the Badgett Playhouse this evening and dinner reservations for tomorrow evening at Patti's 1880's Settlement in downtown Grand Rivers.  Then I was off to do laundry. They have three large capacity washers and dryers so I was done in an hour-and-a-half.  They have a large marine store here and Ralph needed some parts and fortunately, they had them.

We borrowed the courtesy car to go to the Badgett Playhouse which is only about a mile away.  The show featured music and dancing from the sixties interlaced with comedy and we enjoyed it very much.  We're both tired and are glad to be at a marina for a few days' respite.

Note how low the water levels are on the Cumberland River -- the tree roots are hummocked.

Not too much traffic on the Cumberland today

    1. Hi Sally: Welcome aboard. I went to school with a Sally Miller from Altoona, PA. Glad you are enjoying the blog. I enjoy writing it. We're doing the loop in two increments, too, as we started in Atlantic City, NJ and now live in FL. Where did you begin the Loop and what is the name of your boat?
