Yesterday's forecast for today was high temperatures in the 90s with high humidity.  We decided last evening that we'd stay here in Havana till Thursday.  Havana, IL to Port Charles, MO is 120 miles with no marinas in between.  We will split that 120 in half and travel 60 miles tomorrow and anchor out.  It's better to stay at a dock where we have electricity and air conditioning than to press on and anchor out in sweltering heat.

We awoke this morning to a deluge.  When the rain abated we walked into town and had breakfast at Trixie's, where the locals go. We'd recommend Trixie's -- the food and service were both good and everyone in the place was friendly.

Afterward we took a walk around town where preparations were in full swing for Oktoberfest this weekend.  I called a hair salon and was able to get an appointment today.  My last haircut was in Canada in Ste. Anne de Bellevue -- 10 weeks ago, so it was time.  We found a huge Dollar General that had a big selection of just about everything.  We were happy to find big ventilated laundry bags -- so you won't see us hefting our laundry in plastic trash bags anymore.

I only have one photo for today -- I photographed this pearl of wisdom at Trixie's:
