This morning just before daybreak it began to rain. Ralph woke up and closed all the windows. At 7:15 we weighed anchor and headed out of The Pool at Baie Fine and crossed Frazer Bay in 30 kt. winds to the City Marina at Little Current. It was a blustery ride with whitecaps on the bay. We arrived late morning and were blessed to get a slip since tomorrow begins Haweater Weekend -- a big celebration for the Island of Manitoulin and the marinas will be full.
We caught up on email and our blog and ran into our friends on Blue Heron and Marc's Ark and met some new Looper friends as well. I purchased a jar of Hawberry jelly -- a specialty of the area. Hawberries grow on trees that have sharp thorns. The hawberry is like a blueberry but is hard and must be boiled down to make the jelly which tastes like a combination strawberry and rhubarb and is quite good.
We're hoping to continue cruising the North Channel tomorrow and weather permitting we'll be in Michigan early next week. It will be great to be back in the USA after 6 weeks in Canada. Not much of a photo day, but here are a few:
