There are several
Loopers here at Thessalon municipal marina and yesterday we met our boat next-door neighbors, Charlotte and
Dean on Carrie Rose, a Nordic Tug. We had dinner with them last night at a local
restaurant called The Pepper Mill. Our dinners were delicious and for
dessert: banana split pie - so big, Ralph and I shared one piece and
Charlotte and Dean shared a big piece of chocolate coconut cream pie.
When we were halfway through dessert, I remembered my camera was in my pocket
and had to take a picture. These pies win hands down for the best dessert on our
travels thus far!!
This morning on the internet we found the Thessalon Bible Chapel a couple blocks from the marina and attended the morning service. This is the first time in over a month we've been at a dock and not at anchor on a Sunday where there was a church within walking distance. It was so nice to be part of a service again and Pastor Martin and everyone there were so friendly.
Ralph received several phone calls about his Mom this morning and also taked to the on-duty nurse. Her condition is much improved today and she was transferred from the trauma unit to intensive care. The swelling of the hematoma has lessened and she has been lucid. Thank you for your prayers on her behalf and please continue them!
This morning, the water was flat and calm but by the time we left church it had rained and the wind started to get stronger. It's mid-afternoon and it's gusting to 37 kts. here at the dock. We are hoping to be able to leave Thessalon tomorrow morning and cross the border at Drummond Island and get back into the USA. We've been in Canada six weeks and very much enjoyed it, but we are both anxious to be "home."
Here are a few photos from yesterday's barfy crossing -- and the pie photos, of course:
