This morning we departed
Frying Pan Bay around 10:30 AM heading northwest to Indian Harbor in the Thirty
Thousand Island area of the Georgian Bay.
The weather was cooler, but sunny with a nice breeze. We arrived at Indian Harbor at 12:30 and
found places to anchor with a lot of other boats.
We dinghied around the
magnificent rock formations. The water
is so clear you can see to the bottom.
There are lovely cottages and homes in this area. We talked with some of our boat neighbors who
told us about a special location for the most beautiful sunsets. He was so right. Debbie and I got some beautiful shots of the
sunset over the rock formations – this secluded spot almost looks like the
surface of the moon or prehistoric times.
We noticed the trees are all somewhat bent over – we were told that they
grow in that bent position because of the strong prevailing winds here on the
Bay. It’s eerie, but very interesting as
well.
The weather forecast for
tomorrow is questionable with 60% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms in
the afternoon. We plan to weigh anchor
in the early morning and instead of going to Echo Bay near Henry’s Fish House
to anchor out and have dinner at Henry’s as planned, we are going to a marina
at Parry Sound. Parry Sound is a good
spot for provisioning, doing laundry and mailing Ralph’s broken field watch
back to LL Bean for repair – the second hand fell off a few days ago. He has a spare watch, but has to remember to
wind it!
