We had a dreary start this morning.  57 degrees, 15 kt. winds and grayness everywhere as we waited for entry into Lock 12 at Whitehall, NY.  This is our last lock on the Champlain Canal.  We had the wind on our nose most of the day and decided to anchor around noon in front of Fort Ticonderoga on the New York side of Lake Champlain.  Across the Lake are the Green Mountains of Vermont.  The scenery is awesome.

We took the dinghy ashore to take Striper for a walk around Ft. Ticonderoga.  We just got back to the boat when the rain began again.  It rained intermittently all afternoon.

We were relaxing on the flybridge when another boat headed our way, turns out it was Page and Mike Caldwell -- who also live in Cape Coral, but are keeping their boat on Lake Champlain for a couple months.  They anchored and came over to meet us in person and we had a grand time getting to know them.

We were delighted to see a beautiful rainbow connecting the NY and VT sides of this beautiful picturesque lake.  We're so blessed to enjoy this gorgeous part of our world.

It's quite a climb to Ft. Ticonderoga on Lake Champlain, NY

It rained intermittently all afternoon and we were treated to this beautiful rainbow spanning Lake Champlain with New York on the west and Vermont on the east.  Awesome!

  1. It's nice to see you guys are seeing rainbows in all the nasty weather. It's just part of the adventure.

  2. I've toured the fort and it is interesting to see just how people lived so many years ago...we have so much now and probably don't appreciate most of it.
