At 7:45 this morning, we weighed anchor -- a challenge in 20 kt. winds with rollers -- and headed north on Lake Champlain amidst whitecaps to a tiny anchorage called Nichols Point, VT.  We arrived an hour-and-a-half later.  It's very pretty here and well protected from S and SW winds which are expected to continue and worsen for the next two days.   We do have cell phone and internet connectivity.  Again, the water clarity at 12' is amazing.  Here are a few photos of today's back yard:

  1. Wow your moving along fairly well, and it looks like a great trip. Hopefully the weather will settle for everyone. Yesterday we had tornado warnings!! Your getting closer to Canada. How are you handling wi-fi and cell phone service?Your backyard pictures remind me of what we tell everyone when asked aren't you confined on a boat? We say heck no, the outdoors becomes our living room and it changes everytime we move. Isn't it great!!

  2. Hi Elle: We're stuck at anchor here in Nichols Pt., VT again today -- wind is 25+ kts. and the forecast is 60% chance of thunderboomers this afternoon increasingn to 90% tonight. We'd like to move on. Hoping to get to Rouse's Point hopefully tomorrow or Thursday. We are using Verizon MiFi for internet and bought extra Verizon cell phone coverage for Canada, but it's expensive. Ken Chumley always posts "Tonight's back yard" photos which I so enjoy so I stole that idea from him. You're right -- the beautiful outdoors becomes our living room. And it is great! How's Dick's knee? Surgery coming in a few days, right?
