On Tuesday, June 19 we were anchored near our friends off the Village of Contrecouer. They
dinghied over for dinner and we had a fun evening together. We were
all tired and they had a long day Wednesday, as they were heading to
Montreal, and a
shorter day for us, heading to Ile a' Pinard. No one got much sleep,
however, because we were swatting bugs all night long. Our screens work
really well, but the tiny no-seeums got
through. It was like anchoring in the Meadows in NJ. I would not
recommend this anchorage...too bad, because it is a beautiful spot. I
took no photos of dead bugs.
So on to Wednesday, June 20, 2012...
Wednesday
morning was hot and humid, not typical weather for Quebec. We traveled
south on the St. Lawrence River to a little anchorage called Ile a'
Pinard. It's a pretty area with lots of space to anchor and a good
place for a swim. It was 88 degrees by noon. Many other boaters were
swimming and we joined them. The current is swift in that area so we
tied lines to the swim platform and floated around on our noodles. Ralph
hosed Striper down -- we were afraid we'd lose her if we brought her in
to swim.
Around
2:00 PM 2 Bajas with booming music anchored next to us -- about 20 feet
to our starboard side. We were a little concerned because both boats
were rafted using only one anchor. When 5 more boats rafted with them
on the same anchor we got a little more concerned. So until 6:30 PM
there were about forty 30 and 40-somethings and a few of their small
children swimming and diving and dancing and drinking and playing music
(and I use the term loosely) that could be heard for miles around. The
party broke up around 6:30 without incident. Here are a few pictures:
