We left the Pentwater Municipal Marina at 7:00 this morning.  By the time we got to the small entrance canal we could see that Lake Michigan looked rough.  We poked our nose out, regardless, then ducked back in and returned to the marina. We were followed in by several fishing boats agreeing with us. Check-out time at the marina  is noon and we thought perhaps by then the wind direction might change and if not, we'd stay another night.

We walked downtown to the post office and Striper and I took a walk while Ralph got a haircut by "The Barber of Pentwater."
We both like this little town very much.   In Cenzo's grocery store, we found the only bakery in town featuring Mrs. R's Pastries -- items delivered fresh, then frozen.  The prices in Cenzo's were astounding -- and you have to ask what they are -- very few prices are marked.  A small jar of honey was $7.99.  Not my kind of store, but Cenzo's is the only game in town. I didn't make any purchases.  We did find House of Flavors Ice Cream Shop and a soft serve dairy bar and thought maybe if we stayed, we'd eat dessert there after dinner.

We decided to stop into Good Stuff, a really quaint breakfast and lunch place frequented by the locals. The ladies sit at a round table and the gentlemen sit at a long table on wooden block stools.  The conversation is lively and the food is good.  Ralph and I split an egg sandwich and answered lots of questions about life on the Loop.

After lunch  the wind direction had changed so we decided to venture out.  The Lake was more like the "Frantic Atlantic" but considerably calmed since the morning so we decided to head south.  It was a bit rocky for a while, but nothing to impede our travels.  We passed a huge dune area where dune buggies were riding up and down the dunes.  I was using my little camera and didn't get very good close-ups but it sure looked like a lot of fun.  We passed LIttle Sable Light and an abandoned lighthouse and arrived at White Lake at 4:30.  A large portion of the lake was deep so we anchored closer to the canal area where it was 15' and put out 100 ' of chain.  We traveled 30 miles today.

Along the shore there is a marina and a yacht club with small restaurants and snack bars at each, but that's about it. This is a quiet boating community -- the businesses are in adjacent White Hall.  We're glad for a quiet evening.  Here are some photos from our day:

Most businesses have benches out front -- this antique shop has rockers
