July 13, 2012

We left Frankford Lock # 6 at 7:30 this AM and within fifteen minutes were at the first lock of the day.  It’s hot today – 90 degrees at noon when we arrived at Campbellford for the night.  They have great facilities on either side of the canal including electricity, water and wifi – hooray!  I am finally catching up on the blog.  We went through six more locks today.

Campbellford is a lovely little town with all sorts of amenities. I did a load of wash at the laundromat a couple blocks away, we found Dooher’s Bakery only a block away – tomorrow I shall be there when it opens to buy their specialty:  cream filled donuts.  I bought sticky buns and cheese bread today.  Ralph shaved Striper down today because it has been so hot in recent days and she is a happy camper.

We met two fellow Looper couples today and had dinner together this evening at “Be My Guest Family Restaurant which was really delicious and we had a good time chatting about our experiences.  Both couples have traveled via the Erie Canal and not the Rideau so it made for some interesting dinner conversation.

It’s 1:00 AM and Ralph has been in bed for almost four hours....I need to go to bed now myself.  Here are a few photos from today:

As always, another great post. I’ve been following along but didn’t realize that I could post a comment until this afternoon. I’ve enjoyed every post!

    1. Hi Mike: So nice to hear from you and are happy you are enjoying the blog. We've had intermittent internet connectivity here in Canada so I can't always post every day, but I try to catch up. As of today 7/15/12 the posts are current. Wishing you fair winds and following seas as well -- what could be better?
