July 7, 2012
We all slept late this morning and decided to stay in Smiths Falls another day.  I made pancakes for breakfast and the cherubs once again were out and about meeting some new friends in the little wading pool and fishing off the dock – having borrowed “Mr. John’s” fishing rods again.  This time, Betsy got them some worms which Jack had no problem cutting up and baiting his sister’s hook.  They were catching and releasing all morning and having a grand time.  The high today was only 88 – better than yesterday’s 95.
In the afternoon we walked to the Wall-Mart Super Centre for fresh produce and a new hose for the boat while Jack stayed on the dock fishing under the supervision of Mr. John.  PopPop took the cherubs back to the museum for the challenge scavenger hunt today and they came home with a special Smiths Falls commemorative coin and some post cards.
We invited Kara and John to have dinner with us and we had a big spaghetti dinner picnic style with  yummy special desserts from Darlene’s Bakery –including their famous nanaimo bars, butter tarts, apple fritters, carrot cake, peanut buttter balls, and chocolate brownies.  Mmmmmmm.  Everything tasted better under the trees in the park.  After dinner we all took a swim – the water was like bathwater and we had a great time.  Striper would have loved to go for a swim but we had no way to get her back onto the boat.  We are hoping to take her swimming tomorrow in the Rideau Lake.  After the swim, I washed dishes and the cherubs dried them.   We’re so enjoying our  time with Betsy and the cherubs...but our time together is certainly going by quickly and that makes us sad. :(
We have internet connectivity here at Victoria Park, but sometimes we can’t get on.  I am unable to download any photos from today or yesterday at the moment and will try again tomorrow morning if we have time.  We are heading to Col. By Island in the middle of Lake Rideau where we most likely will not have internet at all.  I’ll catch up with the photos soon.
